HOW SHOULD I COME TO MY APPOINTMENT?
Please arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment. We ask that you bring your own mascara, come with clean hair (no wet hair and do not use a flat iron or curling iron), and any spray tan rinsed off. Feel free to bring any products you may want us to use. However, we have everything needed to complete your glam look. Other artists and assistants that are trained under Mel will be at your appointment working with you.
SHOULD I BOOK A RUN THROUGH BEFORE MY WEDDING?
It is required to set up a run through for your wedding at least 3 months before your wedding date. The run through allows Mel to get to know you better and get a feel for what you want on your big day. Bring inspiration photos and photos that you think you look your best in!
MY WEDDING PARTY IS LARGE, WILL YOU BE ABLE TO SERVICE ALL OF US?
Absolutely! Mel has a team that travels with her, if necessary. The team can handle any size party. We ask that you notify us of your party size at the time of booking your wedding day.
DO YOU OFFER AIRBRUSHING?
Yes, we do offer airbrushing.
DO YOU TRAVEL?
Yes! Travel costs are $0.58 per mile x 2. Travel costs cover the travel from our studio to your location and back. If you need Mel prior to 8:00 AM, there is a $100 fee. There is a 6 person minimum for the team to travel for your services.
HOW SHOULD I PREP MY HAIR AND FACE BEFORE MY WEDDING DAY?
Wash your hair the night before. Do not use anything out of your normal. Do not use a straightening iron or curling iron. It is suggested that you blow-dry your hair as smooth as possible. A professional blow out is highly recommended. Wash your face like you usually would, but avoid doing anything out of the normal at least 2 weeks prior to your wedding. Any facial waxing, tweezing, or treading needs to be done at least a week before the wedding day.
WHAT IS A PRODUCT FEE?
The product fee is used in weddings as a one-time fee of $60 that is charged to help keep the prices low for clients. It covers the use of various products used during the appointment. *Fee only applies to weddings*

WHERE IS MAKEUP MEL LOCATED?
Mel has a studio in Bessemer, Alabama. Headshots and portraits are usually held at Frank Carnaggio’s studio in Hoover, Alabama.
WHAT IF I’M ALLERGIC TO CERTAIN MAKEUP/HAIR PRODUCTS?
If you have any allergies associated with cosmetics or hair products, please inform Mel when booking your appointment. Makeup Mel and her team will not be held liable if we are not made aware of allergies or skin sensitivities. All products and brushes that are used are sanitized properly prior to each individual appointment.
